2. Set up the test
Squad
For each tactic we pick your best eleven for its shape, from players' position ratings and ability. Mark players to always start or to leave out (injured, suspended, sold…).

Their tactics
"Mixed" gives each rival a different style's strongest preset, so your tactic is tested against a range of approaches.
Match conditions
Venue
Home and away plays every match once at each ground, so home advantage cancels out.
Player condition
Fresh: full fitness, good morale, for a fair test of the tactic. "As in my save" uses your players' current condition, match fitness and morale.
No in-match tactical changes or substitutions by either side's AI, so the result reflects the tactic you chose.
Off: every tactic is treated as fully learned (you'd train the one you pick). On: players' familiarity from the save applies.
Ignore both squads: every player on both sides is the same all-round player, so only the tactics differ.
How thorough
Every tactic plays every rival, then the leaders play more matches to separate them. Thorough takes longest but separates close tactics best.
